Tips for Tone

Everyone loves a good monochromatic look. When you pick a color and play with its shades, you really can’t go wrong. Here are some tips from Manolo when it comes to piecing together the perfect mono-ensemble.

It all starts with a soft-toned pant. In the summer, Manolo recommends a lighter shade to brighten the overall look. This pearly trouser from Zegna is made of lightweight cotton—perfect for warm weather.

For the shirt, opt for a solid color in a medium tone. Featured here is our signature Natural Summer Polo, a refreshing cotton-silk blend that feels cool against the skin.

To add a little interest, a patterned blazer does the trick. Look for something that incorporates a range of tones, from light to dark. The jacket fabric you see here is a light weave of 100% Super 130’s wool from Holland & Sherry. Against the softer pieces, its darker notes really pop.

Finish the look with a neutral shoe—ideally in a mid-to-dark shade—for a grounded, cohesive finish.

Try this simple formula for any of your favorite colors. And if you're missing a key piece to pull it together, give us a call—we'll help you find or create the perfect garment to complete your look.
